The Oxford Grinder S1 U-Lock is a high-security bike lock designed to provide serious protection against modern theft methods, including angle-grinder attacks. Built around a 14mm hardened steel shackle, it features an advanced anti-disc cutter carbide coating with a faceted surface that helps deflect grinder blades and rapidly wear down cutting discs. Oxford states that it takes an average of 10 angle-grinder discs to cut through one side of the shackle, while the double-locking mechanism prevents shackle rotation and requires both sides to be cut before the lock can be defeated. It is independently tested and carries both Sold Secure Powered Cycle Diamond and Pedal Cycle Diamond ratings.
Designed to combine maximum security with everyday practicality, the Grinder S1 features a protective silicone-coated shackle and body to help prevent damage to your bike, along with a self-sealing keyway cover and weatherproof barrel shield to protect the locking mechanism from water and debris. Its disc detainer cylinder is designed to resist picking and drilling, while the included carry bracket makes transportation easier. The lock is supplied with three keys, access to Oxford’s replacement key service and a 10-year guarantee against defects in workmanship or materials. It is available in 260mm and 320mm external lengths, both measuring 184mm wide.
